Since I am nursing a cold, I figured it isn't a great idea to eat out. Decided to cook porridge instead.

Rummaging thru my fridge I decided to try something different.  Instead of just plain chicken porridge I'd add some niu pang for some fiber..

Also it adds sweetness to the porridge. Turned out great.. love it :)

Mmmm I love the sweet smell at home now, originated from my lovely kitchen.

The comforting aroma of pandan and lemongrass tea.

Haven't been to the market for quite a while, and whenever I was at Tesco, the lemongrass seems dry and semi wilted :( Miss making this drink!

And while I'm still on holiday, I woke up earlier for a trip to the market..
The young woman was very kind to get me  fresher stalks. I got 3 fat stalks hehehe, for I think RM0.50?

I couldn't find parsley though :(
Initially wanted to do a kidney cleanse today. But its alright. Lemongrass juice is still super.

It is pretty simple, just 3 ingredients:- 1 stalk of lemongrass, 1 thumb ginger and 2 pandan leaves, knotted.

I grated half of the ginger because I forgot my mortar at my old place. I wanted a stronger ginger taste.

I knotted and crush the pandan leaves for more aroma, and slice the lemongrass. Add about half a pot of water and boil for about 20 mins. Low heat.

Brown sugar is optional, but I like mildly sweet so I put 3 teaspoonful in.

Voila! My delicious lemongrass tea.
Refreshing, and full of goodness.

It's properties include:
~ Anti cancer
~ Aids digestion
~ Great to cure heatiness and fever.

Now, I'm off to read a good book! :)

Salut!
It has been a while eh? Got rather laid back with updates, so here is one quick post about the teas I've been drinking.

Mulberry Leaves and Chrysanthemum Tea

Since I have a mulberry tree at home, I alternate between fresh and dried leaves. If fresh, I'll use a little lesser. Just 2 ingredients, sometimes I add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar.

I picked these leaves a few days earlier, after a couple of days became semi dried.

What it looks like after being boiled..
And, the tea..

Delicious!
I love to wind down at the end of the day with a good brew of healthy tea.
Easy to prepare and can be enjoyed even on weekdays.

This tea has many benefits but the main ones:
~ Prevent fatty liver
~ Aids weight loss
~ Improves eye sight
~ Cooling
~ Regulate blood pressure

This can be consumed cold or hot, but I prefer it warm. Relaxes me for a good night's sleep.

Remember I mentioned that The Husband is a firm believer that taking Protein has multiple benefits? Meet Jointwell Soy Protein - (you know when I finally blog about this is when I have too many empty tins at home).

I've lost count on the number of times I re-purchase this. Priced at RM78, it is not exactly the cheapest, but not too expensive either.

The plus point is that I prefer this over Shaklee's; simply because I don't experience dizziness after taking this. Not sweet at all, I believe no sugar content.

About 2 spoonfuls in the morning, this then keeps me full and energetic till late morning / lunch time. Pretty good for me who is prone to gastric.

We finish one tin in about a month or so... definitely fast, but worth the money spent :)

Impressive eh? Can actually see the results working almost immediately. Almost.

I'm listing this in my next groceries shopping list. Mix it with some celery and berries. Hopefully will help The Husband's BP.

Having high BP is no fun.
Please make some effort if your loved ones has high BP. No harm trying natural ways.

Shaklee Says:
B-Complex provides all eight essential B vitamins necessary for converting the food we eat into energy. B vitamins are essential in the synthesis of DNA and new cells.

The B vitamins (folic acid, B6, and B12) promote a healthy cardiovascular system by helping to lower homocysteine levels in the blood.*

Feature:

You Need All Eight Bs
There are eight essential B vitamins, and they work best when they work together. Unfortunately, the typical Western diet doesn’t provide enough whole grains, leafy green vegetables, and fish needed to provide 100% of the Daily Value. Shaklee B-Complex provides all the B vitamins you may not be getting in your diet. The eight B vitamins, including biotin, work to:

• Promote healthy cardiovascular systems
• Help metabolize energy from carbohydrates, fat, and protein
• Aid in the synthesis of DNA and new cells

What prompted me to take this supplements was I was suffering from fatigue some time back. Constantly felt tired, and my hair was thinning quite an amount.

Not much of improvement even with more sleep / rest. So I decided to give this a try.

The pills are yellow in colour and upon opening the bottle, I can smell something very clinical and strong. Not exactly pleasing to me..

Easy to swallow, and the smell lingers for a while (and when I burp too).
Taking B-Complex will make your urine yellow, so be prepared.

My energy levels did increase after taking this. I get less tired during the day. This is not to be taken at night as it would cause insomnia ;)

I don't take this everyday as I didn't like the smell. So on alternate days only.

The Husband is a firm believer that taking protein drink contributes to his flawless skin. And has introduced this to me since we first met. I was, however a little skeptical. Aren't protein drinks meant for body builders? Heheh..

Anyway, no harm trying... and I've gone through tubs of this.
I take this in the morning with just plain water (one documentary says it is not advisable to take protein at night). Its a little sweet as it is,  so there is no need to add honey, milk what so ever.

My skin does look better, and generally I feel good. Less likely to get hunger pangs too. Else I'd be gobbling junks all the time.

I'm not sure if I'll keep taking this - at times after drinking this I get a lil dizzy. And I have no idea why.

I have since found another protein drink that doesn't make me dizzy.. but at times I'll alternate between these two (this is more expensive - I forgot how much as The Husband usually get this from his relative). A few brownie points for being non-GMO.
